This little guy is the result of my maya xgen tests to create a feather setup. What started just as a test became a complete shot in the end. It made a lot of fun to combine all the common CG disciplines like modeling, rigging, animation, shading, look-dev and compositing. The background is an image on a spherical projection made in Nuke.
I started also an animation to show the bird flying over a landscape. I think I will also focus on an icy cold winter landscape, because it is a ideal contrast to the dark bird.
